A PERSONAL NOTE

Don Hawkins
Jim Cress

The Live call-in program Life Perspectives celebrates it's 19th anniversary on April 30, 2009. According to founder and host Don Hawkins "The mission of Life Perspectives is to provide Biblically based encouragement and insight on a wide range of issues in a live call-in format. The program's recent growth to more than 265 radio outlets has significantly expanded our capacity for ministry."

After 18 years, listeners continue to tune in and phone in. The reason, according to Hawkins, "People are hurting, discouraged and in need of encouragement and insight to face life's pressing problems. If anything, the 21st century has made Life Perspectives more relevant than ever."

"Some people think we are a counseling program or a talk show" Hawkins continued, "but we are much more than that. Our commitment is to the biblical process of encouragement, plus we look for opportunities to share the Gospel on the program. More than 100 people have prayed to receive Christ on the air."

Don Hawkins and Jim Cress both bring decades of experience in live call-in radio to Life Perspectives. Both had previously served as host and producers of the Minirth-Meyer Clinic program, a pioneering live call in ministry on the Moody Radio Network, plus both have extensive pastoral and counseling experiences well as seminary training.

Don Hawkins, who serves as president at Southeastern Bible College, has 19 years of pastoral experience, plus 25 years of live call-in radio ministry. He has authored and co-authored 21 books including How To Beat Burnout, Never Give Up, Friends Indeed, Master Discipleship and Just Like Us. According to Hawkins, "Our callers remind us that God is using the program in their lives in ways that are beyond our expectations. For this we give Him the glory".
